FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS
Does my child have to attend Opelousas
Family Worship Center in order to enroll in the Academy?
Absolutely not. We
accept students from any religious background, race, culture, creed, sex,
etc. without discrimination.
Is FWCA a
state-approved school?
Yes. FWCA officially gained state approval in October 2006. State-approval
opens the door for federal funds, bus transportation, school lunch, and many
other state and federal programs.
Are students
required to take the LEAP or EXIT test in order to pass?
No. Effective
2007-2008, our students will be required to take a pre and post standardized
test to gauge progress throughout the school year.
How does the
curriculum used at FWCA compare to the public school system.
FWCA uses A Beka
curriculum that is used in private Christian schools across the United
States. A Beka consists of a rigorous academic program rooted in the
Word of God. Students are exposed to high moral and academic
standards, and they receive a solid academic foundation that is sure to make
their future academic pursuits attainable.
Are teachers
certified?
At FWCA, we believe in
the highest standards in terms of conduct, attitude, disposition, and
ability. We do not believe that certification necessarily guarantees those
qualities. With that in mind, our staff is carefully and prayerfully
selected by a committee that examines a candidate's character as well as
ability. We do have some state certified teachers employed, but
certification is not a requirement nor is it automatically preferred over
other qualities such as beliefs, character, and standards of living that may
have a more lasting impact on the lives of students.
How can I ensure
that my child is receiving a quality education at FWCA?
As a parent, you have
the awesome responsibility of making sure that your child is showing
adequate progress in school. We believe that the changes you will see
in your child's behavior and academic progress will assure you that your
child is receiving wonderful care and an outstanding education. |
